Being a published book writer doesn't always mean a steady paycheque, and there's always room for more contacts. Being a Suite101 writer provides for both!
What's it Really Like to be a Suite101 Writer?
Q. Hi Pam,
I read your profile on Suite and will also look at your blog. I will be applying to Suite for freelance writing work and sending out two writing samples. This is while I am applying for work as a creative writing instructor, English Instructor for colleges.
My question/(S): Have you had a good experience in doing freelance writing work for Suite?
2. Do you get paid quickly or rather how long does it take to receive payment?
3. Anything else you might respond to would be helpful.
I am an Author and Artist. I have an M.F.A. for San Francisco State University and a recent certificate in online teaching and learning from Cal State East Bay University. I also have published books
Currently I am sending out short stories to literary journals in hopes of publication.
Thank you for your consideration.
Suite101 Provides Instant Portfolio, Steady Payment and Valuable Advice from Editors and Peers
A. Congratulations on your published books and recent education! And you certainly have come to the right place for further exposure and contacts for the publishing industry – writing for Suite101 gives you an instant portfolio you can quickly link to at any time.
I've now been with Suite for over 10 years, and love every minute of it. I don't use it as my main source of income, but it certainly has helped me gain other contracts. Payment is prompt and sent out monthly via PayPal, as long as you reach a particular level. The support from editors and fellow writers is tremendous; there's no "my secret, I won't share" mentality.
Start as Contributing Writer
Basically, you start as a Contributing Writer – which gives you the flexibility to write for ANY section and have that article count towards your quota. As a Feature Writer, you must ensure you meet the quota for your own section, but of course can still write for any section. Once you've proved yourself as a Contributing Writer, you'll be allowed to apply as a Feature Writer as positions open. Note there is no push or demand for a CW to become a FW, and many choose to stay as CWs with the added flexibility.
Consider Becoming a Suite Writer will only enhance your career. You're making an excellent choice! Hope to see you in our writer forums soon!
